The account executive works closely with the entire account team to monitor the production of editorial calendars, speaking calendars, media lists and a variety of reports.  Account executives are also responsible for writing pitches, abstracts, profiles, press kit materials and press releases. The position requires an ability to manage and execute projects and account executives are expected to instill high quality control of all documents and mange an account’s resource materials.  The account executive is also responsible for supervising interns.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

Media:

  •          Identify client-relevant media coverage, including competitive and industry information
  •          Research and maintain speaking and editorial calendars and opportunities, understand client relationship to opportunities
  •          Develop targeted and flawless media lists
  •          Seek out areas of opportunity for client placement and story relevancy, recognize venues for issues/response activity
  •          Demonstrate ability to pitch media

Writing:

  •          Write summaries of articles about clients, their competitors and their industries
  •          Proofread client materials and continually utilize agency resources to ensure quality control
  •          Draft pitch letters, abstracts, press kit materials and releases
  •          Prepare comprehensive status reports for clients
  •          Author briefing materials
  •          Contribute to plan development process and support team members by producing client communication

 Project Management/Organization:

  •          Supervise interns
  •          Consider “advance” planning and provide supervisors with updates on deadlines and assigned projects
  •          Harbor all client materials in an organized fashion, implement processes for orderliness
  •          Maintain adequate supply of client materials for account team operations
  •          Enter billable hours regularly and in a timely manner
  •          Actively participate and contribute in team meetings
