BOSTON (December 17, 2013) – Greenough, a public relations, social media and marketing firm, today announced that it has been named agency of record for Artists For Humanity (AFH), a non-profit organization that empowers Boston teens by employing them in an intensive program of arts, creativity and enterprise. Greenough’s program for AFH will focus primarily on business, trade and vertical media relations.
“Our mission at AFH is to bridge economic, racial and social divisions by providing under-resourced youth with the keys to self-sufficiency through paid employment in art and design,” said Susan Rodgerson, executive/artistic director for Artists For Humanity. “Greenough will help support this mission by building media and community awareness for not only our program, but also for the arts in general. I’ve seen firsthand how quickly Greenough can generate results and I’m confident they will be a critical partner to us moving forward.”
Founded in 1991, at the heart of Artists For Humanity is the belief that skills equal power and opportunity. AFH gives under-resourced teens respect and responsibility through a paid job in the arts, in a safe space, in addition to skills development and access to positive role models from their communities. The organization has four primary goals which aim to provide urban teens with: a safe meaningful place where they are respected for their contributions and can develop mentoring relationships; an opportunity to have a voice through exhibitions, commercial services, and public presentations; the respect and responsibility of paid employment that promotes self-esteem and financial accountability; and access to educational experiences and support that encourage academic achievement.
“Artists For Humanity has a compelling, heartwarming story to tell, and we couldn’t be more excited to help them tell that story,” said Jamie Parker, president of Greenough. “By providing teens with a safe place where they can artistically express themselves, AFH has created an organization like no other, and we believe it’ll soon become a model that other organizations will follow.”
Greenough builds brands through the power of storytelling and is nationally recognized for its award-winning public relations, social media and marketing programs.
