Greenough, a leading independent public relations and marketing services firm in Boston, today welcomed Andrea LePain as a new Senior Manager. Andrea was formerly a Managing Editor with New England Cable News (NECN) where she planned and supervised coverage of breaking events. She also oversaw the station’s Investigative Unit where she researched and developed stories regarding a number of social issues that affect the New England area.
In 2009, Andrea won a national Edward R. Murrow award for investigative reporting after leading an extensive examination of a fire that killed five people in Newton, MA. Her story, a half hour documentary titled; “The Forgotten Fire,” exposed significant code violations which successfully engaged the public and played an instrumental role in the passage of legislation to tighten up safety regulations for commercial buildings in Massachusetts. Andrea was also lauded for her detective work after she followed a tip and unraveled a web of events that were masking a massive home mortgage scam in Roxbury.
“Whether it involves an investigative report or trend issues, Andrea brings extraordinary skill and experience in developing captivating stories that fit perfectly with our mission to lead brand conversations,” said Phil Greenough, president of Greenough.
Before her promotion to Managing Editor at NECN, Andrea served the station as a Morning Executive Producer and Assignment Manager. As an Executive Producer, Andrea was responsible for overall decision-making about story selection, live shots, breaking news coverage and newscast formatting for all morning programming. She also took the lead in the each step of the creation and follow-up of all news stories as an Assignment Manager, which required her to coordinate the activities and movement of the NECN news crew in and out of the field.
“After so many years of investigating and reporting new stories, I am very excited to join Greenough, a firm that emphasizes storytelling at its core and provides a highly collaborative approach to helping its clients,” said LePain.
Prior to joining NECN, Andrea served as Chief Assignment Editor at WPRI in Providence, Rhode Island. She has also worked as a reporter for Lowell Cable News and was a production assistant for ABC’s “Monday Night Football.” Andrea attended Boston University where she earned a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism.
